In Spring 2018, the Wyoming Legislature empowered the Business Council to find a better way to support high-growth potential companies in the state.

Learn more about the legislation that created Startup:Wyoming.

The Business Council has created two new grant programs to serve startups with high-growth potential, who have a globally-differentiated concept, a scalable product and business model, a defined value proposition, a large target addressable market and potential for exit via initial public offering or acquisition.

These new programs are one part of a broader effort by the Business Council and its statewide partners to serve every entrepreneur as effectively as possible and increase Wyoming's prosperity.

 KICKSTART:WYOMING PROGRAM

$5,000-$50,000 grants provided to Wyoming startups with high-growth potential and fewer than 50 employees.

Companies must commit to maintaining a meaningful nexus to Wyoming and whose concept has potential to provide an economic return to the state of Wyoming through creation of jobs, expanded tax base and diversification of the state's economy.

Applicants must commit to seeking additional funding and report to the Business Council between 12 and 15 months after receiving a grant.

SBIR PHASE I AND II MATCHING PROGRAM

Matching funds for Wyoming companies who receive federal funds through the Small Business Innovation Research or Small Business Technology Transfer programs.

Applicants must commit to remaining in Wyoming for three years after commercialization of their technology and to seeking additional funding.

Awards will be made in the following amounts:

o   Up to $70,000 for repeating SBIR Phase 1 awardees
