Cheyenne, Wyo – The Wyoming Business Council (WBC) is excited to announce its latest direct equity investment from the federally funded Wyoming Venture Capital (WYVC) Fund in Remo Health. Founded in 2021, the company is led by Dr. Will Poe, Matt LeKrey, and Jason Decastro, headquartered in Jackson, Wyoming.
Remo Health delivers virtual, comprehensive dementia care to people living with dementia as well as their family caregivers. Remo provides the expert resources, community support, and clinical care families need at every step of the dementia journey. The service helps to keep patients safe, at home and out of the hospital while keeping their family caregivers empowered and supported.
“Remo was born out of its founders’ personal connection to the disease. Matt LeKrey struggled to get answers and guidance from world-class academic medical centers, prompting the team to build a service that families anywhere in America could access, particularly those in underserved or rural regions,” said WYVC Managing Director, Gordon Finnegan. “The team has worked hard to become an outstanding member of the WY innovation community participating in gBETA’s accelerator program and Silicon Couloir’s Pitch Day.”
One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, and the current healthcare ecosystem leaves their family caregivers unsupported. In rural communities in particular, this is a large and growing problem due to the nationwide shortage of geriatricians and neurologists, barriers to care, and weaker healthcare infrastructure. Remo’s virtual care model and comprehensive suite of services bring high-quality, affordable healthcare to families who have historically not had access to these resources. Remo’s services are especially valuable in Wyoming, where public health cuts have impacted communities across the state.
Remo proudly plays a crucial role in improving the quality of dementia care and overall healthcare in the Intermountain West. Furthermore, by virtually delivering dementia care, Remo’s impact extends far beyond Wyoming. One of the biggest pain points for caregivers on this journey is taking their loved ones out of a routine to get to a doctor’s appointment – if the nearest doctor is hours away in a metropolitan city, it adds even another layer of complexity. Remo’s emphasis on virtual care ensures that economic status, geographic location, or language do not stand in the way of families getting the dementia care they deserve.
Earlier this month, Remo announced it was selected to participate in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid’s “Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience” (GUIDE) model, along with its recent achievement of HITRUST certification. These two significant milestones position Remo Health as a pioneer in accessible and secure dementia care, setting the gold standard for the industry.
“As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, nothing matters more than the importance of trust and security in delivering exceptional care,” said Matt LeKrey, cofounder and Chief Product Officer at Remo Health. “Our selection to participate in CMS’s GUIDE program and attainment of HITRUST certification demonstrates our unwavering commitment to providing high quality, accessible, and secure dementia care to families across all corners of the country.”
The WYVC team continues to finalize direct investments in several other companies and work through diligence with multiple others. The team is also working closely with Wyoming-focused emerging venture capital firms to support raising their first funds as part of WYVC’s fund strategy.
