Wyoming Business Council Welcomes Emily Jarrell as Community Grants Portfolio Manager

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Business Council (WBC) has named Emily Jarrell as its Community Grants Portfolio Manager, where she will help administer and strengthen the agency’s grant programs that fund community infrastructure and economic development across the state, including the Building Resilient Communities (BRC) program.

Emily brings a blend of entrepreneurial and relationship-driven experience to the role. Originally from Central Florida, she came to Wyoming for a graduate assistantship in fundraising and has called the Cowboy State home ever since. A former collegiate basketball player at Utah State and the University of the Pacific, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Sport Management and a minor in Marketing, followed by an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the University of Wyoming. She joins WBC from the Cowboy Joe Club at Wyoming Athletics, and is herself a Wyoming entrepreneur as co-founder of Cowboy Country Milling.

“Emily brings exactly the mix of entrepreneurial insight and genuine care for people that makes our grant programs work for communities,” said Bert Adam, WBC Investments Director. “She understands that behind every grant is a community trying to build something lasting, and we’re thrilled to have her on the team.”

For Emily, the role is a chance to put her background to work for the whole state. “I’m looking forward to figuring out how to leverage my knowledge and background, along with hearing different perspectives on how to add value to the BRC program, to ultimately provide a positive impact to communities across Wyoming,” she said.

She counts what she loves most about Wyoming as the reason she stayed: “I love how much it feels like home. Everyone was so welcoming when I first moved here.”

When she’s not working, Emily enjoys golfing, fishing and skiing. When she’s not outside, she’s probably creating something, trying something new, hanging out with friends and family, or enjoying her new hobby—baking.

The WBC investments team works alongside regional directors and communities statewide to connect Wyoming people and places with the agency’s economic development resources. Reach out to Emily to welcome her to the team at [email protected].
