Business Council Board Meets May 7 & 8 in Casper

Casper, Wyoming – The Wyoming Business Council (WBC) Board of Directors will hold their quarterly meeting plus a public work session on May 7 and 8, 2024, in person in Casper, Wyoming, and concurrently via Zoom.
 
The WBC Board will meet on Wednesday at the Hilton Garden Inn (1150 N Poplar St; Casper, WY 82601), beginning at 8 a.m. The Board also will convene a public work session the previous afternoon, May 7, starting at noon at the same location.
 
During Thursday’s meeting, the Board will consider four Business Ready Community (BRC) grant and loan requests. A full agenda and board materials are available on the WBC website at wbc.pub/WBC_Board.

BRC projects being considered at the May 8 meeting:
Planning Grant – Economic Development Comprehensive Master Plan
  • The Town of Mountain View is requesting a $75,000 planning grant to develop an economic development plan outlining a long-term vision and goals for economic growth.
 
Planning Grant – Wind River Indian Reservation Data Center Feasibility Study
  • ​Northern Arapaho Tribe is requesting a $50,000 planning grant to determine the feasibility of expansion of business activity in the technological industry on the Wind River Indian Reservation area.
 
Planning Grant – Economic Development Plan
  • The Town of Ranchester is requesting a $75,000 planning grant to develop an economic development plan for the Town. The last planning document completed is approximately 15 years old.
 
Planning Grant – Economic Development Plan
  • The Town of Wright is requesting a $100,000 planning grant to help identify potential current and future economic development opportunities for the community.
 
Public Work Session
The WBC Board of Directors and staff will hold a public work session on Tuesday, May 7, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the same location as the board meeting. The work session will include a deep dive into Building State Capability (BSC) with partners from the Harvard Kennedy School Building State Capability Team.
 
Members of the public are welcome to view the work session at the same Zoom link above; however, this portion of the meeting is a work session only and will not include discussion or transaction of public business.
