Public meetings on $12 million in energy funds to be rescheduled
CHEYENNE – Public meetings on the $12 million in federal stimulus funding slated for energy efficiency initiatives in Wyoming will be rescheduled.
The State Energy Office planned to hold public meetings around the state April 27-31 to provide city and county officials more information about the available funding.
Ben Avery, director of the Business and Industry Division at the Wyoming Business Council which manages the Energy Office, said the decision to reschedule was based on a need for further information from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
“When we set these public meetings up we expected all the information from the Department of Energy to be there, but it continues to flow in,” said Avery. “Communities and the State Energy Office have to submit plans to DOE to receive funding and we want those plans to pass muster at the department. To do that we’ve decided to give it a little more time.”
Avery said rescheduling the meetings won’t interfere with DOE deadlines for communities and the State Energy Office to submit their plans for funding. Entities directly eligible for DOE funding must prepare plans for using the funds and submit applications to the DOE no later than June 25, 2009.
Dates and times for rescheduled public meetings will be issued when more information is available.
